39th avenue greenway
On 39th Avenue, from Franklin Street to Steele Street
The 39th Avenue Greenway in Denver, Colorado is a new linear park and multi-use trail that also functions as a stormwater management system — combining urban green space with crucial infrastructure improvements in the Cole and Clayton neighborhoods of north Denver. It is about a mile-long greenway and open channel. It includes paved paths ideal for walking, biking, and rolling, with lighting and wayfinding signs for safety and connectivity. Along the trail you’ll find natural play areas, plazas, picnic seating, shade structures, art installations, benches and gathering spaces. The greenway serves as an open channel for stormwater drainage, designed to carry excess rainwater safely toward the South Platte River — helping reduce flooding risks in nearby homes and streets.
This park was dedicated to honor Denver’s sister city of Nairobi, Kenya. This park was dedicated in 1976. This park is approximately one city block in size with several amenities. There is a playground with wildlife sculptures of Kenya. The playground has the usual slides, swings and other things for kids to climb onto. Further down the hill, there is a baseball diamond. Though there is not an infield, there is a backstop. During the winter, neighborhood kids use this hill for sleigh riding. There are also several picnic tables to use for an afternoon lunch.

This park is surprisingly large with tons of things to do. For the sports enthusiast, we have a tennis court, baseball diamond and a basketball court. If you have a playful child, there is a decent playground with swings and slide. If you are looking to picnic or host a large bbq with family are friends, there are numerous picnic tables. To reserve tables, you can visit the Denver Parks Rec website. For our furry friends, there is not a fenced park, but plenty of space to roam AND lots of trees. :)
