The Clayton neighborhood is located just east of the Cole Neighborhood, northeast of downtown Denver. The neighborhood grid has borders of MLK to the South, 40th Ave to the North, York Street to the West and Colorado Blvd to the East. This neighborhood was developed in the late 1800s as Denver grew northeastward.
The neighborhood was named after George W. Clayton, a Denver philanthropist and founder of the George W. Clayton Trust and College, located at Martin Luther King Blvd and Colorado Blvd. The Clayton neighborhood architecturally, consists of Victorians, Denver Squares, bungalows and post-World War II ranch style homes.
As for amenities, there are several businesses along Bruce Randolph and others located in the York Street Yards. You also have easy access to Denver International Airport via the RTD light rail station located at 40th Ave and 2 blocks west of Colorado Blvd. I like the newer 39th Avenue Greenway, with both its proximity to the York Street Yards and its connectivity to the Cole neighborhood. It’s a great place to exercise.
